Mayor Almonte inks ties with Jalosjos camp
OROQUIETA- Oroquieta City Mayor Jorge T. Almonte has reportedly inked ties with the political camp of Congressman Nonong Jalosjos. 
Western Times has gathered reliable information that Nonong Jalosjos’ daughter and President of the Dapitan Fantasyland Svetlana Jalosjos is definitely eyeing the mayoralty seat in Baliangao, Misamis Occidental.
With this development, incumbent Mayor Agne Yap is likely fighting his own kin, Jojo Yap , with the latter reportedly running under Ms. Jalosjos.
With a number of Mayors in District 1 allegedly leaving the camp of Ernie Clarete, Mayor Almonte’s bid for the congressional sit seems unstoppable.
Meanwhile, former Congressman and Mayor of Plaridel Ernie Clarete is reportedly targeting a Cabinet position should Senator Manny Villar succeeds in hte latter’s bid for the national presidency.
Rumors have it that there are ongoing talks between the camp of Almonte and Clarete for possible unified campaign. But a political analyst who chooses anonimity laughs off a possible no-opponent scenario in the Congressional level and that Clarete may still likely to run for the provincial post.

BATANGAS CITY, Philippines – A team from the from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) arrested a town mayor for having several firearms in a white Ford Everest at the Batangas pier on Sunday morning.
Investigators from the Batangas City police and the PNP Maritime Group said the firearms belong to Mayor Ernie Clarete, the incumbent mayor of Plaridel in Misamis Occidental and a prominent politician in that province.
Although an investigation showed his firearms all have licenses, the mayor’s permit to carry the firearms outside his residence was expired.
Police said the mayor also violated the election gun ban.
“Papuntang Manila, daan nautical highway…checkpoint based on directive ng itaas…resulted huli firearms sa loob ng sasakyan,” Senior Police Officer 2 Lauro Aala, a member of the Special Intelligence Team of the PNP Maritime Group, told ABS-CBN News.
Recovered from Clarete’s vehicle were a 9mm pistol, a .45 caliber pistol and one baby Armalite (an M16A2 rifle with a folding stock).
The mayor was being escorted by Senior Police Officer 3 George Puertos and Jovito Baroro, a militiaman.
Clarete is a prominent politician in Misamis Occidental. He was a two-term congressman for the province’s first district, a provincial governor.
He is now on his last term as mayor of the town of Plaridel in Misamis Occidental.
He ran for congressman but lost in the last elections.
